The numbers stand for the # of males, females, and unsexed, respectively. (basically, male.female.unsexed) so 2.2 uromastyx means 2 males (first number) and 2 females (second number). If there is a third number, it represents the number of unsexed animals.
Another example, 3.2.1 uros means 3 males, 2 females, and 1 unsexed.

Your basking temps seem a little low as is the overall temp in the tank. The basking spot should be at least 120, hot end should be about 95-100 and the cool end should be about 85-90. That might be why your uro is so lethargic, the temps might be a little too cool for it.

Hope this helps and good luck

thx a lot, of course it helps.
i assumed temps are a bit too low.1 week ago i replaced 60W bulb with 100W.
my excat temps are...5 at cool end, in the middle 93, basking is 117.
i think another undertank heater should do?

o and my animals are
1.0.0 ball python
0.0.1 uromastyx maliensis
0.1.0 black cat

and i'm also thinking about bying a tarantela!but that is just a thought for now!

how to post a picture?
i appreciate your help a lot!

5 at the cool end? Please tell me that's a typo
I don't think another undertank heater will help with the temp problem. I have one and it didn't really change anything except for making the sand a little warmer for my uro. You could add an additional heat light (a red light) to bring up the ambient temps. To make the basking spot hotter, Robyn had suggested raising the basking spot and switching to a halogen flood light. He uses only 45W and 90W ones which seem to throw off plenty of heat and they are cheaper to buy than standard reptile basking lights. Also, make sure you have good thermometers in there. A lot of people are suggesting the use of temperature guns to accurately measure temps at various points in the tank (I'm waiting for mine ).

As for posting pics, go to the reptile photo gallery, click on "lizards", then on "uromastyx". On top of the galleries, you should see "Upload photo" and click on it. It's pretty easy to figure it out from there.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask
Oh, and welcome to the forum

ups...a minor mistake...it's 85, not 5!
i also added a photo of my tank, when i get home from school i'll take a photo of my mali as well...he's under his rock now
so, if my tank is any good please tell me.
there is thermometer in the middle of the tank...u can see it's 33.7 degrees celsius, or if i convers to F it's 92.6.basking is
84.5 or 119 F. i did the measure 10 min ago!
i think that should be enough?
and what is the most interesting for me...my mali's name is Amon, i can see yours is Ra.lol

but I'm wondering about the dirt on the right side of the tank. Is that like Bed-A-Beast or something? I'm just trying to figure out what you're trying to achieve with a half-sand half-dirt setup. Could you fill me in on that?
I also noticed your uro's rock hide is in the middle of the tank. It is preferable to have at least one hide on the hot side and one on the cool side. It's always good to have a couple of hides for him to choose from. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to uro setups, this is just my opinion. You might want to ask around and see what others think in order to give you a better idea of how different people keep their uros. I've pieced mine together from various suggestions I've gotten and am looking into changing my setup soon. Don't be shy about asking, the people on here are very friendly and helpful. I hope you can get all your questions answered on here

Amon, Ra, yeah, that is pretty funny Great minds think alike I guess

Good luck with Amon

about dirt...i think it's good to have different types of materials.sand is good for uro ti dig (he likes to dig inot the sand), dirt is for keeping the moisture low...after all uro is desert lizard.
about hide spots...i'm searchin the flat stones, but i have no idea where to get them. With those i'll build him somekind of hideout on the hot side of tank, then i'll move hiding rock to the right side!
and i also have to learn sth more about hard dirt, to enable uro's tunnel digging!
and i've noticed that his temperatures are fine...basking is 134!
do u have any idea when is usually brumating time of uros?

Sunfox Jan 26, 2004 03:17 PM

I've found some good flat rocks in pet stores' fish department. As for brumation, I'm not sure about the exact times but it seems to start in November or December and finish sometime in February. Breeding behavior starts in March. My uro has gone through a partial brumation (which he induced himself) and is starting to come out of it now. He comes and eats daily (except when there's snow storms). Don't worry if he's still a little sluggish, it'll take some time for him to get back into his routine again.

Can't wait to see the little guy

well thanks for all your help, i'll upload a picture of him in about 10 hours.what's time time at your country?
and i thought it was his brumation time...he's very passive, and doesn't eat much!
i sure want to see him in normal behaviour, because i got him in november i think. But since then he eats more, so i think he'll be normal soon!
