i have had a fan-toed (fan footed) gecko and a crockodile gecko and a house gecko in a 10 gallon tank for about 8 months. they have been fine this whole time. today i came home and the fanfooted was in the corner, i went to say hello to him and he ran all the way to the other side of the tank, where he started to shake and shiver. he looks like he is having seizures in his legs. he cant climb to well either, and his breathing is really labored. please help. he is my first gecko and my favorite, what should i do??? what might be wrong???

This calls for a trip to a veterinarian -- not later, but now. All three need a fecal check. The symptoms of the fan footed gecko may be either a parasite (possibly toxoplasmosis) or even a calcium deficiency. It can be something other than those. In any matter, intervention is needed.

Most house geckos are wild caught and they carry lots of parasites (as many wild caught reptiles do). If you did put a wild caught gecko in with captive bred geckos, it can very well be that they contaminated each other, which is why I suggest that all three be checked.

I also highly suggest that the geckos be separated. Mixing species is not recommended. If ever I did practice this (and I do not) I would never mix reptiles from different areas of the world or from different habitats.

Now, go see a vet.
