Corn snake & Ball Python Cohabitate?

alex49201 Jan 25, 2004 03:27 PM

I've recently obtained a new large tank for my ball python, the tank is 18" x 48" x 24". The ball is about 3 years old and about 4 foot long, 1.5" diameter. I also have a full grown corn snake, 5 foot long, 1" diameter that is about 4 years old. The two snakes are often together when they are outside of their tanks and i am thinking about putting them together in the new tank. Before the ball's tank was 12" x 30" x 12", and the corn's tank is 12" x 30" x 24".

I've had both snakes since they were only a few days old, they are both very mild mannored, in perfect health, and have spent a lot of time with each other outside of their tanks.

Are either of these breeds known for cannablism or of being very territorial? Or would there be any other potential problems?

Thanks for any help.

Jeromy

The temps that would make the ball python happy would make the corn snake miserable. They also might not appreciate not being able to get away from each other.

"The serpent crams itself with animal life that is often warm and vibrant, to prolong an existence in which we detect no joy and no emotion. It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."
