40mm fans and 3v converters

mbmcewen Jan 25, 2004 04:42 PM

This is mainly in response to Kyle's post just below, but I thought everyone might benefit from this. I found 40mm fans for 99 cents, and 3v converters for Nintendo gameboys(just snip the end off) for 2 bucks on ebay for a total price of less than 8 bucks. That includes S/H.

Nice, thanks, that's next!

Chilly dry house and warm humid tank = zero visibility (I found that out quickly)!

what Ma are they? Not that it really matters, but I like to use 300Ma ones. I have found a couple, the ones I normally get have a selector on them. I walmart has them for about $10.

Now where did you find the fans for $.99?

I don't know the MA. I would look but I have glued it down and the spec side is down. Here is a link to the fan listing though. This guy had many many fans...individually or bought in packs.

That does seem high but it is still only $1.42 per fan. I paid about 15 bucks at radio shack for my first fan.

Oh ya still a very good price, and I also paid $15 for one of mine. I do have the others which were $5 each I think.

How is that fan working for you? I just used my last one and need to order some more. Is it loud? They spin at 3 times the rate of the fans i get, but doesn't matter unless they are loud.

no it isn't loud...especially on 3 volts. However, I have set it on 4.5 volts and taped up a couple of the air holes to increase air speed but not quantity. Also, on 3 volts, I sometimes have to give the fan a little push to get it going. But unless the power goes out a lot, it shouldn't inconvenience me.

I have that issue also, now the one fan I have will run lower, btu the rest need a push. I also do not run mine at night, that way at some point in the day I know my humidity was 100%. Also if you think about it things dry out a little when the sun is out. It will also save the life of the fan, which will be much lower than normal at lower speeds. At least in some cases.
