no stress colors?

i have had my male veiled for a while and have handled him from time to time and have had no stress colors. i mean this by saying he throws bright colors to me usually whien i drop crickets in the cage and he spots them but when i handle him he has never turned brown or black or anything. anyone know why or had a simular experiance?
