plant questions

taralynn_hughes Jan 25, 2004 06:36 PM

If our female laid eggs in our well rooted umbrella tree, would it kill the plant? Could she get through all the roots?

Also, how long does root stimulator stay with the plant. I just potted a bunch of new plants ans want to know how long to wait before they get exposed to our chams (who get all our nice plants!)

It is common for chams to lay in the roots. In fact, a proper laying chamber should have a plant in it for just such a purpose. The eggs will not kill the plant but the eggs probably need toi be kept a lot drier than many plants will tolerate so you might want to remove them. But one also hears plenty of stories about females who (unbeknownst to the owner) laid in in a plant container only to have the eggs hatch many months later.
