New Tegu Question

Heavenly Herps Jan 25, 2004 06:43 PM

I have raised a few tegu's up from little babies on a well balanced diet of human food. I saved a female blue from a pet store 3 days ago. She is approx 1 year, thin and pretty beat up.
She was thrown a mouse once in a while without proper heat, calcium, cleaning etc. She has been chewed on by mice, missing toes and has not shed properly so she is pretty ruff. My question is other than proper heat, clean caging and hide places, bath for the shedding, How can I get her to eat human food and get her on a proper diet and routine? How long could this take? I work from home so I have all the time and have brought back many a animal from near death but never a Tegu. Any ideas would help Thank You.

Have you tried any other foods yet? Some Tegu's will readily accept other foods, I'm almost positive mine never ate Tuna fish before I offered it to him, and he ate it right up!

Good Luck with raising him!
