stunted growth in savannah's...anyone else seen this?

feedermouse Jan 25, 2004 09:03 PM

i recieved a very small and underfed savannah last year ,i was told it was almost a year old i was horrified, the monitor was only about 13 inches long very very skinny it regurgitated for almost a month ,i slowly very slowly fed 1 pink at a time untill it stoped regurgitating, well it has been 7 months later and he is a super little monster eats any thing that it comes across very fat little guy i mean plump, but hes only grew about 2 inches, one of my other monitors that is his same age is almost 3times his size, iwas just wondering has anybody ever came across or know of monitors who's growth has been stunted because of to little of food to eat.

Also if they are kept together theres why one is smaller. I have a BT/WT cross male that was 2 ft long at over 2 years old (was thought to be a female by Rob Faust and was probably kept with a bigger male and a female)when I got him, in a year he has doubled in length and is 4 times his weight. They dont stop growing completely from bad husbandry and never grow again, they need the proper conditions to start growing again. I had a bosc at around a year old imported was 16 inches (she was the big one of over 100), she doubled in size in 2 years living with a much bigger male that was not dominant to her, but would have grown faster on her own.
