JCP ate first rat

janome Jan 25, 2004 09:16 PM

I fed my yearling JCP her first rat and she ate it! I read alot about them being hard to switch over. She is due to shed any day so I was waiting for her to shed so she would be extra hungry. I'm still waiting for her to shed. I just held it in front of her and she went for it...spit it out and had a look on her face like.."That was awful!" Then she went for it again. The rat fell by her ( I feed F/T) and she looked at it again like "this isn't what I normally get" (She was getting 2 adult mice weekely). After a few moments she started to eat it. I thought it would be too big for her but she ate it anyway. Great!

Aren't rats better for them then mice anyway?

So now how long between rats? This was a small rat and she is close to 4 foot long. The mice I was feeding every 7 days.

Congrats!

I would keep it to a 7 or 10 day feeding schedule.

And yes Some JCPs are real hard to switch over lol.
