I did put this one on a diet shortly after I took this picture (no she was not even gravid in this pic). There is such a thing as too fat, even for geckos. I think when their tails are fat it is fine but when their bellies start to get swollen looking it is time to reduce their food intake (unless they are swollen because they are gravid). She's still big but not obese now. Also, sometimes I hear people saying geckos only get too fat if you powerfeed them, if they are in too small a space, etc...and in my experience that has not been the case, in fact it seems to be genetic this case- her offspring also tend to be fast-growing, hardy, and get big easily. When this girl got this fat I was feeding her all the mealies she could eat in a sitting several times a week (plus occassional silkies, supers, etc...), she had a 20 gallon long all to her self, and was on calci-sand. She just had a huge appetite. She could eat 22 full grown mealies in 15 minutes. Now she is on paper towels in a smaller enclosure.
