Looking for information on a Texas business-does anyone know them???

sssnakesusan Jan 26, 2004 02:14 AM

Hi. I am trying to find out any infomation about a herp based business in Pleasanton tx called Steves Pets. They are reputed to be able to supply anything. I tried calling the number listed in the directory but I get an answering machine. No one has returned my calls. I drove (long way as I live in Freer Tx) to the address listed-1549 Leal rd- to find that the address was to a locked gate on open rangeland, no houses or businesses in sight. The phone book has had them listed there for several years. After that, I asked about them at the other area petshop but had problems understanding the man there (bad teeth) and he was VERY rude to me and my daughter. I cant ask for any other infomation there! Does anybody in the forums have any suggestions? I am begining to wonder if this is a real or bogus business or a sting location.

I can't believe you could get something at this place that you couldn't get anywhere else. Seems a bit strange, after all....where is Steve getting the stuff from?

You already live in a herper's paradise anyway down there in Freer. What more could you want? LOL.

Hi Chris! This person in question told my husband, in fact bragged at the San Antonio show last year, that he could get anything that he didn't already have at a better price than anybody else. I m VERY curious to see if he can supply as he claims. He is supposed to have a bunch of really big snakes lots of hots and caimans that he calls crocodiles. He says he knows Bob Clark real well but Bob hasn't said one way or the other. I have a business card from this guy-calls his business Atascosa Zoological with the same addy and ph # as in the phone directory. Sounds pretty fishy to me. I was ripped by a seller at a San Antonio flea market a while back and now Im wondering if this might be the same individual. My hubby can't recall what he looks like. If you hear anything, pls let us know!

Yeah, Freer can be herp heaven but the game wardens around here are a problem. Cant road hunt at night and everybody has gotten touchy about trespassers. Did find two milksnakes under our garbage can in Oct tho! Make the commute worth it!-Susie
