royal & carpet is same cage?

chameleon2005 Jan 26, 2004 04:45 AM

could this be done?

other than the feeding issue, if both animals are the same size would they fight?

I have a 5 foot male carpet and a four and a half foot female ball python and i was wondering/hoping that they could share thier viv?

any opinions are welcome

Phil

Phil,

Housing snakes together is not recommended (including snakes of the same species, ...unless of course you are trying to breed them). Snakes are basically solitary animals that do not benefit from companionship. The normal result of a shared living space is stress (which Ball Pythons are extremely prone to anyway). Stress will cause the immune system to weaken, and the animal to become vulnerable to illness. Investing in another enclosure would be the best thing to do, IMHO.

I do not like housing two snakes of the same species together(unless breeding) let alone two different species. The two snakes you speak of have different requirements also.

I would not do it.

So how long have you had the Carpet? These are hands down my most favorite snake.

I've had him for about a year and a half but I had to sell him on, about 6 months ago due to financial restraints.

Fortunately, recently, i got offered him back and i just
couldn't say no to him.

He is SUPER tame and i think his markings are so unique.

If anyone knows any breeders that can ship to or are based in the UK that breed anything closely marked to him please let me know as I would like to breed him. Otherwise i may just have to buy an insanely high yellow JCP female from Paul Harris for him (LOL)(interesting babies I think!)
