original (sharp strain) albino boa to a kahl albino

rickus Jan 26, 2004 10:21 AM

My question is can I breed these and get albinos or are they not compatable? Thanks Rick

They are not.

From my understanding they are not compatable. If they are bred you'd end up with a clutch that was double het for two strains of albinism. Crossing these back you'd get 1 in 4 sharp albinos 1 in 4 original albinos, 1 in 16 double albinos and a bunch of possible het combinations. The problem would be that you'd not be able to tell which strain the albinos were which in my view would deminish their value as potential breeders After all who wants to buy raise and breed two albino boas only to find that he has a uncompatable albinos?

Same situation arose with albino black rats many years back.
