East TN Reptile Jan 26, 2004 11:34 AM

These come from a breeder I trust. Who's to say their 100% BUT, the breeder said they were from Tom Crutchfields original line & I trust him.
I promised JB I'd breed some pure Hogs & I am a man of my word. It won't be until next year....if I'm succesful then. BUT. I am trying.
These beautiful orange Hogs are unrelated and will not used in any cross breeding, just Hog X Hog...LOL

If someone tried to sell me those as pure Hogg Island boas, I would not buy them. To me they look questionable. This is not meant to offend you and is just my opinion. There is a certain look that in my mind represents pure Hoggs and yours don't fit the bill in my mind. That's not to say that yours are not pure. They may have been selectively bred to look a certain way (like yours), who knows.

They have all the base characteristics of a hog. Aside from color (which has been shown to vary a lot in this local) the pattern, size, and "look" are very consistent with hogs. You've got a better bet of a hog being pure when you know what line the hog came from then if it simply matches a choice shade.

purchase of those amazing looking Hoggs. I thought seriously about buying that pair myself. They look like perfect examples of pure Hogg Island boas and if Chuck said that's what they are, then that's what they are. I've known Chuck since the second grade and he is a man of his word. I look forward to seeing your babies in the near future. I also look forward to seeing your hypo/hogg crosses. Those were some of the best hypos I've ever seen and the fact that they are crossbred means little. In my opinion, a hypo is a crossbreed, so breeding some hogg into the line really doesn't matter. The end result is still a crossbred boa, although, I am happy to hear that you are going to keep this pair pure.
