Best Boa cage on the market?

red_eyed_magalie Jan 26, 2004 11:58 AM

Hello

I would like to upgrade and get into "real" enclosures for my snakes. I have 2 RTB's and would like to upgrade and not have them in tanks anymore. Now that I can spare some extra money I would like to get some opinions on which one to purchase.

Things I am looking at
Humidity
Size
Ease of cleaning

My snakes are 6 plus feet and 5 plus feet.

Any help is certainly appreciated
Thank you
Maggie

I firmly believe the "best" cage will be one you build or have built to your own design.

However, that's not always practical or easy.

One cage I like fairly well was the 4' cage by Animal Plastics. It comes unassembled and that saves a lot of $$ on shipping. Assembly is easy from what I've heard.

They may make a larger cage if one of your snakes is a still growing female.

I've heard great things about Boaphile plastic cages.

I would say that boaphile plastics are the best of the group, and the animal plastics and moonstruck are a close second. (I personally have animal plastics and moonstruck and like them both very much) The only issue with the animal plastics is heating. I need to install heat tape or a heat mat but other then that they are great cages.

Oh, ps the ap cage I have is a 6x2x2 and very roomy for larger bci.

For the money, Vision Cages are the best, most durable, easy to clean, (and stackable without a rack) Boa cage on the market.

They significantly outsell all other boa cages. Mine are 7 years old and they look like they are brand new. You can sell a used one for almost the brand new price.

Thank you so much

Hey,

I've owned quite a few vision cages and they are the best. As stated before, they are extremely durable, good lookin', and functional.

I like the 18" height of the 3-4 foot cages. It is easy to reach in and clean. Also, the glass doors are great. Plexiglass doors warp. I've owned many cages with plexiglass and they ALL warp.

I would probably max out at the 4 foot cage. I've heard that the larger 6 foot cages tend to be hard to heat. If you are simply housing RTB's you should be fine with a 3 or 4 foot cage.
