Abnormal Shedding

An overly ambitious aquaintence of mine just went out and got a corn snake when she decided that she liked my boyfriends red tail boa. I got to see the poor thing just the other day and I'm concerned about it's well-being. It's scales feel dry and "crackley", esspecially the belly scales. It also seems to be shedding on it's belly skills, they are flakey. Almost as if it has dry skin. I'll cut this short now because I could go on and on about the way she is keeping this snake... If anyone knows what the problem might be I would appreciate the advice... Thank you.

The first thing that popped into my head is dehydration. Make sure the cage has decent humidity, although corns don't need really humid inclosures as other snakes require. Also, make sure the snake has plenty of fresh water, and a large enough dish to submerge in. I am by no means an expert with corns, but this was the first thing that came to mind when reading your post. Good luck!
