Does it mean anything if she try to climb the glass?

aklaim Jan 26, 2004 09:11 PM

Our gecko will randomly start trying to climb the glass of her tank. She will paw at it, and then get up on all fours, somtimes even sitting on her tail so that all 4 paws are on the glass. Does this mean anything? Or is this just her trying to climb stuff?

Mine also does that... I think it might be a stress reaction, I just got one that does that and she isn't eating either.

Or maybe they just see their reflection are are trying to interact with it

Weird. My girlfriend seems to think that its her way of telling us she wants to come out side. Because if we see her doing this, and then go put our hand in the tank, she hops right on everytime. She will also climb on top of her cave at times, and if we offer our hand she just jumps right on. I dont know what my gecko would have to be stressed about....she has it pretty good.

Well mine is quite the opposite, she runs like hell when I come near lol

mine does this to and climbs up on my hand. It is probably a sign of being tired in the same surroundings.Boredom can even happen in reptiles.IMO

Hi

There is nothing wrong with them doing that, it is just something they will do sometimes. Some people on here refer to it as the gecko dance.

Take Care, TLB

Yep, mine does this too. Also mine will do it more if I place shiny objects around the tank and it's in sight (like my stainless steel liquor flask, or my keychain). My gecko seems to like shiny things.

Alot of geckos do it. Its just part of exploring. Its no different than your gecko climbing on top of a log or going into a hide.
