The cheesy @#%T in my snakes mouth

tunahound Jan 26, 2004 10:39 PM

Well I tried my best for two weeks to get rid of this crap but It just would not go away.So I had to break the bank and take my JCP(male)to vet I am sure that you all know the prices at the local vet(LOL). Well he gave me amacasin to shoot him up for A month. Now the questions to the experts what else should I do other than keep him hydrated and shot up with the meds?
Thanks:

What did the vet say was wrong with your snake? To me it sounds like a Respiratory Infection, which can often be treated with higher temps and more humidity. Did the vet do a blood workup for the snake? Did they show you how to correctly inject your snake? A full month seems way to long to be injecting a snake for anything, usually it is only reccomended for 2 weeks. Plus in speaking with my reptile vet, she said that haven't used Amacasin for years because it has side effects and just wasn't working as good as Baytril. I hear you about the cost thing. For $115 I got a check up, 14 prefilled saringes of Baytril (for mouth rot), and direction on injecting the snake and other things to be doing during the two weeks. A lot of money, but well worth it.
