Is there any way to tell if my female burmese python is gravid before she starts to swell with eggs?

No I didnt I cooled them down for like a month and then introduced them together but I cant say as I wittnessed copulation, I had them together for about 2 weeks or so and then took them apart that was over a month ago. My female looks like she is getting bigger in her hind quarter but its hard to tell.

or letting the snake travel across your hand to feel for eggs, I don't think there's any way you can tell for sure. I suppose x-raying is an option but that will be costly when you'll know soon enough anyway.

If her back end is a little larger and the underside is more round than flat, I would treat her as if she was. Give her plenty of food, warmth and a laying medium and keep your fingers crossed! LOL!!

Keep introducing the male. Female is not gravid until she ovulates. If you witness ovulation, only then do you KNOW she is gravid (barring ultrasound or xray). Likelihood is high that ova are simply enlarging -- therefore, it is normal for some swelling to occur before ovulation, or before she is gravid. Unfortunately, ova may be resorbed before ovulation occurs. Best to keep male in regular contact with female to ensure that ova develop to full term and ovulation occurs successfully. ...Continue breeding trials to ensure full ova development and high fertility.
