gravid Meller's coloration?

kurpak Jan 26, 2004 11:59 PM

Do Meller's display a different color pattern when gravid
v.s. not? I have a chance to aquire a gravid female, just wondering if there is a noticable difference.
thanks

We have never witnessed a "gravid" coloration per say. Now Gravid females will show darker (stressed) coloration but the same as any other Mellers. Also the Mellers are very hard to tell if they really are gravid. Even when you palpate them for eggs their body has a great way of hiding the eggs (unlike most oviparous Chameleons). So if your buying a "Gravid" female Melleri just be careful with whom your purchasing it from.
