randyrhoads, how is it going with your ig since you tried some different husbandry techniques?

hes doing great, hes getting fatter and hes not walking around licking my dirty floor as much (hardley at all). ive been giving him his vitamins, and he goes after the food as soon as i set his plate down, sometimes he'll start to walk over to me while im preparing his food. he never used to be this social. then he will eat all his food so then ill get him some more and he will eat all that. i have to feed him like 3 times before he stops his eating. the only problem is, he is still crapping everywhere, i put newspaper all over his area where he sleeps and eats and stuff. he was going ther, but then he will find a new place. he never makes up his mind, he crapped on my bed, on my coat. and just about everywhere else. so I am going to build him a cage. I have the whole basement to my self, so its gonna be pretty big.

Randy,
Congrats. He is definitely looking a little better. Keep me updated. Do you have a place where he can get water? That might help with the pooping problem too. Glad to see he is taking his vitamins like a good lizard. lol

Maybe you can cut the cord to your heat rock, and put it under the heat lamp so your iguana can use it safely? I know it doesn't get very warm, but I'm thinking of possible electrical/fire safety problems that can happen with those old rocks...

Good luck!

They tend to like water for doing their business.
I'm assuming you have to climb stairs to get to your room so go to Wal-mart or such & buy a baby bath tub. It should have a plastic piece in it to lay the baby on so set that up as his ramp to his pool.
If you only put a couple inches of water in it, it shouldn't be too heavy to empty out.
Just an idea. Hope it helps.

Hows the new diet working out? I mean, what all do you feed him now?

randyrhoads Jan 28, 2004 06:25 AM

i give him cucumbers, squash, brocolli. and when I run out of those I often give him a variaty mix by the name of "brocolli slaw" he likes that. sometimes ill give him a banana. my mom is sopposed to get those greens that u guys keep talking about but she said that she dont feel like hunting around all day for a bunch of different foods for a lizard. so she said its easyer for her to just gets whats in the bag, unless i go to the store with her. sorry about my spelling if there is any errors.... i dont know how to spell

You probably should go to the store and look for the right food for your ig. You should be able to find a big bag of collard greens for less than the salad mixes cost and the bag is 3 times as big. I mix turnip and collard greens with the Italian and spring salad mixes. That gives them a variety because there is romaine, radiccio, carrots, endive, and usually 2 other vegies in the bags. Also they like green beens and that is a good food for them to eat. Even some bell peppers to mix in his food for flavor. Here is a web address to a great food list for your ig. No iceberg lettuce and not too much romaine lettuce on it's own just to mix in with other greens. Anyway good luck and go to the store with your mom. If you don't help her help you then who is going to help your ig.
