saddles for identification on BCC's..... and some medicine questions...

mikeflores Jan 27, 2004 02:44 AM

hi, first of all, thank you for all the guys that help and gave time on my past posts...
just went thru some other sites... got some opinions that you can look at the saddles, if they are only a few, say 12-14, possible suriname and if it's more, maybe they're guyana BCCs. is this true?

any suggestions on medicines for repiratory infections...? can we give them medicines orally?
how about deworming, planning to use flagyl and panacur... any suggestions on dosages?
got also 1 hypo, the jaw is a little sore, not that worse but would seem to look thicker - like some fluid stuck inside the mouth making the jaw expand a little, the problem is, when it hisses, fluids come out of the mouth and nosetrils. but it still eat alot... is this R.I.?

It's probably not hissing. Thats what a REALLY bad RI sounds/looks like. A vet appointment would be best at this point.

I have heard nothing but GREAT things about a drug called Tylan, and it's readily available at any feed store.
Check out the boaphile website, he swears by it.

Baytril is a wide spectrum antibiotic that works well for RI. Get diognosis and dosages from your vet. We dissolved tablets in water and gave orally for ten days every day.

Get a fecal exam.

Flagyl ( Metronidazole) Works on Amoebae and Trichomonads given orally.
Dosage ranges from 125-250 mg/kg. Repeat dosage in 2 weeks.
Very strong parasiticide. GET DOSAGE FROM YOUR VET!!

Panacur ( Fenbendazole ) works on pin worms, Nematodes ect. Dosage can be 50-100 mg/kg. Repeat in 2 weeks. We have used smaller dosages for 5 days
with good success for pin worms. Again.. Get diognosis and dosages from a VET.

Variations and consistancies in color, pattern, saddle count and configuration,
cannot accurately identify a specimens origin. Boas are highly polymorphic.

Hope this helps.

are there baytril tablets? what i can get are injectible forms... i have experiences with a "vet thru experience" and he injected an anti biotic and it seemed to work. are there any chances of this be baytril.

Yes they were tablets. Same tabs We give our cats for various infections like urinary tract infections. Don't know if there is an injectable form or not.

thanks you guys for the replies... but i am currently in south east asia and my collection is here with me. i have a limited source for medicines and most specially herp vets... so your experience with dosages would be quit useful.
i also encountered ivermectin for killing mites and ticks... some boas came in with really humongous ticks, what's your experience with injecting this to the snake and just dissolving it in water and have the snake soak in it. heard that this drug makes the snake infertile in some cases... true?
