Temporary caging for an Asian beauty snake?

Amanda E Jan 27, 2004 12:38 PM

I've been toying with the idea of getting a beauty ratsnake ever since I got into the hobby, but I've never seen one up close until just recently. Because of that, I think one of the subspecies will be the next snake I will get.

The thing is, I've never had a snake that gets to that size before. I have a few tubs measuring 20"x14"x6" that I'm currently not using. I know this wouldn't be big enough for the snake's entire life, but just for temporary housing.

How long could a beauty snake be and still be okay in this size tub?

Hi Amanda,
I have a trio (2.1) of Taiwan Beauty snakes.
They are about 8 months old, and I keep them in Tubs that are 33"L x 16"D x 14"H.
They do move around alot and they use all of the enclosure.
As far as when they are adults, an enclosure that is 4'L x 2'D x 2'H will be needed.
These are great snakes with a voracious appetite.
Tony
