I've been there once. Having little experience with these expos myself, I can't compare it...but my daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves there. It was worth the 90 minute drive for us. That was back in August. I'd go back again, but the timing isn't working out. (Feb 14th is claimed by hubby!)
I could be wrong, but I imagine that most expos held in the winter are a bit "thinner" than the summer ones. Fewer babies to be had, and awfully cold weather to be transporting snakes and other heat-needy critters.
