Do my superworm beetles need anything to lay eggs on...?

Or will they lay on their veggie/fruit and in their oat bran? I remember reading somewhere that they liked to lay their eggs in wood??? Any input y'all?

They do like to lay their eggs in wood such as twigs, corkbark,etc.
