There is a post a bit down on this, but 40mm fans are good, remember most people are running them at about 1/3 the speed, and then even covering more if needed. It does not take much to dry out a tank, but after some testing it works great. I have also used a fan on a digital timer to run for 5-10mins each hour, this also worked, but not as well, and could at times bring the humidity down a bit below 80%.

how do I slow the fans down? less wattage then they need?
thanks

You can buy a universal adapter that has a voltage selector on the front. I run mine at 4.5v instead of 12. I may even have one running at 3v. All of mine are 300ma.

can you get the fans & stuff needed at radioshack?
Yes, but they will be about 4x as much.
You can get the fans on ebay, or other electronic sites, and the adapters at walmart or other stores.
