Question about supplements.

BigMac Jan 27, 2004 03:11 PM

Tank stopped eating his supplements two weeks ago.

I have tried to get him to eat them in his dry mix. He won't touch it with the supplements.

I then tried mixing the supplements with powdered bee pollen granules which he normally loves. Sprinkled on both fresh mix and dry. No luck. Thanks for the suggestion jts1.

He is still eating voraciously he just picks through food leaving any food coated with supplements behind.

Any suggestions on feeding him the supplements?

Some uros can be particularly finicky at times. Its almost like they go through phases of preferring different foods at different times which would btw correspond to what they do in nature according to field observations. I've had some that loved particular foods only to turn their noses up to it at a later time and then go back to it eating it with gusto eventually.

My suggestion would be to give them no choice. Hold off feeding them for a couple of days (it really will not do them any harm) which should get them quite hungry. Then make sure EVERY piece of food offered has a small coating of the vitamin/mineral/bee pollen granule pulverized powder over it.

I'm willing to bet that they eat it.

The fresh bee pollen granules work the best at disguising vitamins/minerals if you mix them together then pulverize them into a fine powder in a coffee grinder.
