Ackie behavior question

CanadienBacon Jan 27, 2004 03:43 PM

I have been noticing that as my groups of reds and yellows have been growing they have started to get agressive with each other. For example one of my two female yellows will grab the other by th side of the neck...the same goes for the reds.My reds and yellows are just reaching breeding age,i have seen the reds mating. So my question is:Is this behavior normal,do the females act like this as they mature?
Thx for looking

If just becoming sexualy mature I would think your ladies are setting up clan hierarchy. As to weather that behavior will continue is probably up to the individual animal. I just got my first ackie so my experience is limited to what I have researched
I'm sure someone more qualified will post. I don't mean to steer you wrong.Whis I could be more help.

it really depends on individual it could be teritorial and it depends on the size cage maybe its too small I dont know I got b/w tegus and the males do get aggressive during breeding season or claiming their territory. dont mark my words though I am not a ackie keeper just a thought
