In my opinion 82 is just about perfect. I wouldn't let it get above 85. Also let it cool down at night probably about ten degrees. Thats why I use the colored bulbs at night. I think they are 30 or 40 watt. Hope this helps.

The cooling down at night is not something that is really necessary. Alot of people keep the temp the same day and night. What I should say is that if the temp falls a little it night it shouldn't affect your snake. Snakes in the wild cool at night, and it just makes it easier for me to change the bulbs out at night and the temps drop some. Also the colors look cool and the snakes don't seem to care.

I found that 90F and above is too hot. 85F seems to be the perfect temp for my corns. If you go too hot, you risk regurgitation and other problems. same thing with too low a temp.
They need a heat gradient, and they will move to regulate their own body temp. The best thing I ever bought for my corns was a Helix proportional thermostat. If you are interested, I can tell you how I set it up for my snakes. It really saves me a lot of worry and aggrivation. Good luck!

I like to stay below 86......

I like to stay at 82 actually..........

...........remember.....there is air temp and surface temp around that bulb........

and the temp of the bulb itself........

........

(my cages I use 15 to 25 watt bulbs.......)(I heat the whole room to 82 and use bulbs in 4 python cages also......)
