I'd say that's too low.

Need to maintain 90 on the warm side, 80-85 on the cool side. A night time drop is okay as long as the cool side doesn't go below 75 (72 at the most) and you MUST still have a temp gradient between the 2 sides of 5-10 degrees. I try not to go below 74...72 at the most. Add an extra heating pad or an infrared heat light for extra heat.

You say the temps are dropping to 71 - on which side (warm or cool side)? And what's the temp on the other side? What are you using to measure temps (analog, stick on or digital thermometer with probe)? Where are you measuring temps?

thx for the info.

i incresead the light , now its 91 on warm and 78-80 on other side.

but isn't it stressfull for them to have full light at night ? that's the only reason i dim the light down ... but it seems to get too cold.

thx anyways

If you use black or red light, you can leave them on all the time. But you have to turn the white lights off for at least 12 hours a day.

At night during mating season 71 isn't too low, just increase it to about 80-85 during the day. If they are too young to mate I would suggest increasing the temp. Don't worry much about your temps dropping slightly duringthe night.

Yes it is, that's why I said use the infrared heat light - it's not the same as the visible light from a light bulb, etc. What kind of light are you using? Are you using an under the tank heating pad - they really need belly heat, not heat from above.
