My Ball Won't Eat!!!!!!!

clownloach Jan 27, 2004 07:01 PM

I know you guys have heard this over and over again, I have tried everything with my boy, daytime, nightime, in the cage, out of the cage, live food, frozen food, frozen thawed food, food dipped in barbeque sauce, gerbels, rats, mice, slice of pizza from pizza hut, nothing. It's been 2 1/2 months, going on 3 months. And he just doesn't want the food. His temps are good, his humidity is about right, plenty of hiding space, a lot of nightime activity, and no signs of illness, such as weezing, mites, or bad shed. I guess I just need to hear someone say not to worry. Or do you guys think he might need a vet checkup? Bye the way, when he don't eat each week, my boa snickers and says pass it over here.

Don't worry. Once you get used to this every year, you will learn to actually like it. Not having to mess with feeding for 3-4 months is actually a nice break!

*This is for a ball (or any snake really) that is at least a year old. You don't want a baby going without food for to terrible long.

No worries. You say he was eating, but not anymore - right? If so, I'd just keep an accurate weight record (actually weigh him, don't eye it) and as long as he's not losing weight you're okay. Just keep trying.

It's that time of the year where Balls tend to go off feed for a while so don't worry as long as he's not losing weight and seems to be in general good health. Mine was eating once a week from the end of last March when I got him until about 2 months ago. Then he stopped eating for a few weeks, then ate one week, then stopped eating for several more weeks and then just happened to eat tonight!

This just happened to me. Freaked me out. Because i've had this guy for 4 years and he has never done this before. It has been about a month for me. I'll just have to wait and see.
