Leo personality or science behind it?...

insideoutsider13 Jan 27, 2004 08:14 PM

My female of my breeding pair seems to have an odd obsession of laying her stomach against the part of her thirty gallon and sometimes try to climb it in the corner, I was just wondering why she would do this when there is definately enough space in the tank for the pair of them and what she might be gaining from this? I have another gecko that I had rescued from a pet store that is kept in a 15 gallon all by their lonesome and I noticed him doing it also! What is this behavior and what does it accomplish?

Do you mean the leo dance? (attempting to climb glass)

Some peoples leos do it to get attention, but one of mine does it and really doesn't want attention. Just a thing they do

Anybody who has kept more than two leos will have a leo that climbs glass. 2 out of 3 of mine do it. Its just a part of exploration. Leos can climb pretty well. When mine see something and they want by it, they climb over it. Glass is no different. Why should they not try and climb it? If it was a log or something, they be climbing on it, but it would raise no questions. The leo doesnt know that their nails cant grasp it, So they try to climb it just like everything else. No difference. It doenst mean anything, they're just exploring and doing things that geckos do.
