HOLY SMOKES! My skink just had a baby! it's about an inch long...so far only one, she got kinda spooked when I walked in the room, and she bolted under a rock. Oh man, this is so exciting! you were right (whoever told me) she WAS pregnant!!!

The baby is 3 inches long. It is freaking fast!!! I can't believe some of the places it has gotten itself into. I had to move the male out cause I'm not sure if he will eat the baby...i don't wanna risk it, but jeez he doesn't eat in the new cage at all!!! I gotta keep trying, I'll work to figure it out. Only one baby though, that's weird...I woulda thought like 8 (as i was told). Oh well, it's good to learn with just this one first and then move on!

So yeah, here's a picture of one of the babies. The mom had 2 last night and one this morning. When I got home from school, I began lifting rocks and stuff out of the cage to clean the substrate, as it was plastered with drying (and disgusting) pregnancy goo. When I lifted the first rock, a baby was there, twitching on it's back. It looked like a broken arm, and on inspection of the baby (after death) the scales on it's neck were like....gone. It was a giant black mass of no scales, and I think they were removed somehow. The poor thing died in a seizure. I can't think of what caused this, as it was not a cruch from the rock being lifted (which would seem impossible) and I got home just as it was dying. I'm worried for the other two now, they are so small!!! 3 inches!!! they are so fragile, I'm scared to touch them. They won't eat anything yet, and the male (in a different cage now) won't eat either. This is getting to be a big pain in the ass, but the babies are so cute!!!

They are gold skinks...Just in case anyone is wondering, those are the only pets I have. The male and female gold skinks, and now 2 babies!!! They are so silly...they are about a day old now.
