lighting for golden mantella

dancingfrogs Jan 28, 2004 01:17 AM

I was wondering if anyone has found an ideal light for displaying golden mantellas. I've found that 6500k (any type, compact flo., reg. flo., and halide) all seem too blue, and wash out their colors, while 5500k don't really seem right either.

You need to make sure that the lighting you are using is full spectrum in order for your plants/animals to be displayed in their natural colors.

These are my favorite flourescent lights:
Cheap- Power-glo, grow plants like crazy, but a good color
Also I like Repti-sun 5.0 bulbs, which are overkill, but also have a nice color and grow plants. I have also been experimenting with the Exo-terra 8.0 desert bulbs, which have also had good results and are cheaper then the Repti-sun bulbs. I have Green and Painted mantellas. I am actually looking for some Goldent Mantellas.
