IS SHE TO SKINNY???

bmills Jun 06, 2003 11:37 PM

I was just wondering if she is to skinny. I put in crickets and I see her eat them. I have a dish of mealies that constantly has about 10 mealies in it, but my albino always eats those, or at least out of my hand, so I assume she eats them in the tank too. My normal won't eat the mealies from my hand, but when I put the crix in I see her eat them, or at least some or most, before I leave the room. She just doesn't have the size tail that my albino does. Please let me know if you think she is to skinny.

Here is my albino, she is older though, I think she is over a year, and the normal is only around 8 months. At least this is what the pet store said, and they normally don't know, so I'm not sure.

you probably need to feed them seperately in like 2 containers and feed them as much as they will eat especially the normal. cuz sometimes geckos can be hogs and eat all the food before any of the other leos can get any

That's not the best angle to show her weight...that having been said, she looks fine to me. See if you can get a pic that gives a better view of her hips and ribs as well as her tail.

give her a round of panacur. Worms can cause subtle weight loss/lack of gain. If she is not infected it will not hurt her.

What is panacur? She doesn't eat the mealies, she eats the dusted crix.

Yeah I would say she is a bit underweight. Hwo much is she eating and how often do you feed her. I also recomend getting her some pancur, your local reptile vet should have some and also be able to get the proper dose for her. Your local reptile vet should also run a fecal for you too, to be sure what kind and if she has any worms. Good luck

Personally, I think they're fine. They're a tad bit skinny, but as long as they're eating they should be fine. Nothing a good pinky cant fix Also, Superworms are good for putting weight on leopards I find. Have they always been that weight or did they lose the weight drastically? If they lost it quickly, thats a sign of some kind of parasite, which means vet time. Unless they lost the weight drastically, id just give them some waxworms or a pinky to put some weight on em, or supers, though some wont eat them. L8er
