I have 2 Ouichita Maps in with my RES.

The best tank mate for a RES is another RES.

cant agree more another RES is always welcome, i have 4 currently together in my 55 gallon they get along great. others that have always gotten along with my sliders over the years are Easter Painted (males have a tendency to be aggresive ive learned but not always) musk turtles, Maps and any cooters. i've housed all of these species together at one time or another and had very few problems other than the territorial acts of one of my male painted turtles. but currently its just my 4 RES and they're happy as rats in a craphouse

You have 4 sliders in a 55 gallon? Sounds pretty overcrowded to me. I hope thats not the tank youre planning on adding more turtles to.
