` Nope, that ain't true. You've got to know about the parents, to have an idea of their size potential. I have adult, male Yellows from just under 6 feet, to almost 10 feet.

` I realize you could get cross-eyed trying to estimate length, in this pic, but all the Yellow Anacondas in this pic are male, and the same age! Notice the differences in girth, and head size.

dfr, i guess i should ask u all the questions, ev been lookin over the past pages for all the info i can, and noticing uv been the first to answer the questions, and u answerd most of them. no offense to ne one else that reads this. but sumtin else i was wandering, in a couple caresheets ive seen it sais that there cage needs to 2/3 water, is this true or should they have a big enough water dish to get there entire body in with room to spare? and aslo would a cage about 8'L x2'H x 2'D (give or take a couple inches) be big enough for an adult male?

thanx for answern the last question, and thanx inadvance for these

` LOL, I probably just have more free time right now, than others monitoring this forum. This too, shall pass.
` Anacondas like small, confined soaking dishes. I use a size that they can just fit into. I think they feel more secure this way. Here is the important part: Use a soaking pan that is easily removed from the cage, for regular/frequent cleaning/disinfecting. They should have completely dry substrate, I use newspaper, only. Floor heat allows you to put the water container over a hot spot. This will cause constant evaporation which, in a properly sealed cage, will give them critically important humidity. Screen top cages, and cages with upper level ventilation, will lose humidity and injure the snake. ( That's why so many newbies have sick Ball Pythons that can't shed properly, they start out with a cheap screen top cage ). If you can't keep a water container really clean, just give them a small bowl to drink from. They may not be as content, that way, but better than soaking in bacteria soup!
` Anacondas don't like, or need, large cages. Again, I think they feel more secure in a confined space. Also, Anacondas are among the most sedentary of snakes. When they're healthy, and have optimum heat, they rarely move. Just in the water, out of the water. If you had a snake rarely handled, it would seem like a large cage would be preferred, but I don't think so. I keep full grown Yellow males in 4 foot cages. With this method, you must keep your cages clean. If you're not going to keep up with the snake's hygiene, you need a gigantic cage!
` The more simple your set up, the easier to clean. Clean, is one of the major keys to success, in herpetoculture!

` Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
`
` Two identical soaking containers, yet they crowd into one.
`

`
` By the way, I am not suggesting that you keep snakes together. In fact, I suggest that you don't.

WOW, they look all warm and kozy in there.

` That's 23 feet of Anacondas in a 21"x13"x6" pan. There's an unused pan next to them. They just both like to get into one, to make it overflow.

` For adult Yellow Anacondas and larger Boas, I use 60"Lx30"Dx24"H, and 48"Lx24"Dx24"H, and 48"Lx24"Dx18"H. If I was going to build them, they would all be 60"Lx30"Dx24"H.
` For the younger Boids, I use 36"Lx17"Dx15"H cages. These are actually 40 gallon glass aquarium size sliding screen-top critter cages. I turn them on their side, making the sliding screen top the side door. I mask off all but the bottom 2 inches of the screen with clear plastic tarp. Used that way, they trap humidity quite well.
