Tokay_Ray Jan 28, 2004 03:47 PM

Just curious if giant lubber grasshoppers would be good food for my beardies.

if they are the appropriate size they should be ok. Be very cautious of anything wild caught as they may have pestisides or harmful bacteria and parasites associated with them.

entomology is my field.........lubbers are extremely bad tasting....a beardie would spit them out for sure...i have thrown them into a back of hungry fish only to have seen them spit out the second they got a taste....also i'm not positive but them may be toxic if eaten

i would strongly recommend not feeding themmto any animal

since entomology is your field, do you know what the nutritional value of roaches would be? (hissers, death heads and lobsters)

i don't know the exact amounts in proportion....but i do know that in general roaches contain alot of protein...babies have a higher fat content than adults because before there last molt there bodies are still growing and there fat and juicy...as adults i think the main nutrient is protein....

sry i don't know more...i've been collecting and studin insects since i was 5 (16 now) i'll c if anyone i know knows more
