mantis as food

Brad Alexander Jan 28, 2004 03:57 PM

I have used them many times in the past as food items for various herps including chams. Chams love them! I have mainly used adults that I have found while herping on a local road near my home. There are times when I can find as many as 20 a night (though I have never captured that many at a time). I normally just grab a few here and there to give my chams or other lizards a treat. My only concern when dealing with wild insects is if they have been in contact with pesticides or not.

Take care,

Brad

Do you pinch off their grabbers, or do those not hurt the chams? Just curious.
