Lighting

kameron Jan 28, 2004 05:41 PM

What do y'all use as lighting for good pictures - especially for bearded dragons? I know natural sunlight is probably best, but it's overcast and cold here now. Any other options for bringing out/displaying the best color?

Thanks,
Kameron

` Overcast gives a more diffuse, soft light. It cuts down on dark shadowed areas, and shiny bright spots. For certain types of pix, it is the best light; however, I sure wouldn't take a Beardie out in the cold!!
` I get some of my best pix with flash, sometimes two flash units, one for bounce. I correct the pix color temperature ( balance ) to between 5,500 to 6,000 degrees, Kelvin. If you're using digital, good photo editing software gives you the option of adjusting the contrast, saturation, and high/medium/shadow without actually changing the color. With good software, like Paint Shop Pro, you can save a flawed picture. You can also take some hopeless/unsavable color pix, and change to acceptable black and white, for those you can't duplicate, but want to save.
