H2O for crix

jbaum Jan 28, 2004 06:28 PM

I know I can use Gut Load for the crix and that has enough moiture, but I seem to be doing pretty well feeding them fruit, cat food, etc. I would like to be able to provide H2O, too. I've doen soaked bread, but it gets moldy fast...I assume not good for crix and not good to feed those crix to the beardie. Just seems like they need pure H2O because the second I drop a drop or 2 into the bin, they all come "running". Those of you that keep large amounts of crix, what is your crix set up like? Of course, this whole thing may be null and void because I hope to get a cricket-free beardie in the spring/summer. Hope there will be some available!!

Try the water gel. It stays drinkable for a long time and if it gets a little dry you can pour some water on it to give it some life again, but that only works once. Try EZ water or Fluker's Criket quencher.

a cheaper alternative is to get a big sponge and make sure it's holding a lot of water. when it gets dry, soak it again. you can reuse the same sponge and it's cheaper than buying the gel. also the crickets won't die in it like they a dish of water. hope this helps.

whatever you feed to your crix is inturn being eaten by your dragon. Use fruit veggies and other foods that you would feed your dragon. with fruit and veggies thay wont need water

I was told that cat food was very good to feed the crix because of the high protein and fat content! Not to mention that I have 4 cats!!! I just never know who to listen to until I get it from the forum!!! Thank you!!

high fat content is good for cats and dogs, not reptiles

I know I will have some crix free dragons available late spring / early summer and I am sure Joel R will have some around that time also
