bringing BDs to a reptile show?

quanno Jun 07, 2003 02:11 AM

Theres a reptile show here in tulsa tomorrow. I was wondering if its considered kosher to bring your own pets to walk around with you at a show. I have 2 17 month old females that ride on my shoulders in public, have never jumped off, and i have leashes just incase. So would i be kinda singled out if i took my babies with me?

Most shows won't allow you to bring animals in... so if you do try and bring one, you might not be allowed in.

Unless you are renting space at the show to sell reptiles, you probably won't be allowed to bring them in...

This is one place that your pet will be exposed to hundreds of other reptiles and its a fact that many of those are being sold off due to problems. URI and adenovirus are two problems that frequently come out of expo's and shows which is also what we recommend that people not handle others animals or wash well when you do before handling yours.

Around here it is common to see beardies on shoulders at the shows, you'll get a lot of "is that for sale" I have been to 4 differant reptile shows, and peopel carry pets in to sell, trade, or show off. I wouldn't really want to bring mine, for the same reason listed above, there are so many diseases at the shows, and peole coming up and trying to touch them, that have handled other reptiles, so you, just have to be careful..
