question about turtle's behavior

blueroses Jan 28, 2004 07:19 PM

is it normal for a turtle to be blowing bubbles once in awhile and sticking its head out of the water? what about blinking often? thanks!!

blinking alot? not sure. when mines on the rocks they tend to look sleepy and will blink but not like a twitch or anything. Shouldn't be a problem.. make sure your water is clean though! If it isn't then your turtle might get bad stuff infected in their eyes

as for breathing air out when they come up, yes its natural.. mine do it all the time. Usually when I pick them up to place them in their feeding tank they let go of the air their holding. I suppose they hold their breath for a long time then it goes away as time passes.. but they are disrupted like being picked up, they'll release the air since they don't need to hold it anymore
