CB'03 Silvery Barneck baby

Yasser Jan 28, 2004 07:35 PM

This is one form the small clutch we hatched last summer. This male was the least red in color and the least red baby I've have ever seen. I have wondered what baby Manokwari scrubs looked like as babies due to their more muted silver/brown color. Perhaps they look like this one. But this baby pictured is a pure Jayapura animal whose parents were obtained from VPI, a line considered to be much more colorful and contrasting than Manokwari animals. Somebody is going to have to hatch some before we all can find out though. And in the meantime, we'll be raising this one up just to see what it matures into.
Hope ya like.

I had a tiny manokwari scrub that was very red in coloration but had a very faded pattern. The snake is with someone in NY now and has a faded pattern but is not patternless like some other manokwari's that I have seen. Anyways that is quite a quite little guy you have. HATCH OUT SOME MORE BABIES!!

Very beautiful baby, Yasser!

And definitely very interesting in the lack of red(all the scrub babies I have seen have been reddish tinted to almost brick red).

And also, just as an aside note, isn't it interesting that ALL Morelia species seem to undergo an ontogenic color change from hatchling to adult?

Very cool stuff.
