One week, I noticed my collard (Trinity-named him b4 I sexed him) wasn't eating, was gaping alot and had become lethargic. He's very active so I was a bit concerned. Then overnight a bump developed on his head (between his eyes)so I took him to the vet. She explained that he had developed an abscess from bacteria that surfaced because his immune system had weakened from any number of things. So she began to administer a series of 3 shots. I had to buy a dropper and force feed him a mixture of (Ensure, catfood and calcium powder...yummy!). He hated it but got stronger.
But the abscess caused his eye to swell shut, so the vet lanced and cleaned the lump and gave me an ointment for his head and eye. Poor guy was blind in one eye for like a week but began to eat on his own again (although without his usual precision, it hurt to watch)
I'm happy to announce he's made a complete turn around so far,
he's gained some good weight and jumps around pretty good and feels strong when he runs up my arm.
Tough little bastard, I picked him at the pet store because he was missing the tip of his tail and some toes but was the most spirited lizard in the case.
