Vernooyboy Jan 28, 2004 08:32 PM

Has anybody used these heat racks before? Are they sturdy and do they hold up?

Thanx
Scott

even though they are in California they charge shipping because they are made out of state.
Also they don't include the tubs.

They are plenty durable and strong for their intended use, but note that they are not to be used with tubs filled with sand or other very heavy contents.

Also, these racks are sold without boxes, and currently they use Rubbermaid models that I haven't seen in stores for awhile now. If you want to buy a rack, make sure you buy the boxes somewhere first before ordering the rack.

I would wait until they make a rack using a more commonly-available box, like the 32qt Sterilite. They are designing such racks now they say. Contact them and ask.

Hi there I am useing there line of racks right now they are actually made by animal plastics they are very sturdy and very easy to put together I opted to go with the belly heat and yes they are designed for the rubbermaids that are discontinued but dont let that discourage you you can still get them with no problem go to www.bettymills.com they sell them and only charge one flat shipping rate of 12.00 no matter how many you buy its the best shipping deal on the net besides free shipping LOL but any way back to the racks I will tell you this if you are useing them for ball pythons like I am you will need to drill alot of holes I drilled about 60 of them in the front of my boxes to let the air flow in and out if you dont the heat tape will heat the entire box to the temp of the basking area but that is mainly just with the pythons because you have to drop the ambient temps at night but the wholes fixed the problem for me they also sell a perfect rack now for ball pythons it uses the big sterlite boxes 34X17X6 and you dont have to buy the big one that holds 10 boxes they also make it in a 5 hole its like 300.00 which isnt bad for a nice rack like theres well that was just my 2 cents I hope I didnt bore you too much thanks again Paul
