I'd be cautious about getting another dragon to house together with your existing dragon. The main concern I see is a 5 month old dragon is nearing sexual maturity and the age where he will breed. If you place a female in there he's going to attempt to breed her probably pretty fast. That's pretty young to induce a male into breeding (even though it wouldn't be on purpose).

If so, the female must be of breeding size, age, and weight. If you add another male they will most likely fight either right away or within a few months due again to sexually maturing.

A 48" x 24" x 24" is fine for housing two adult females that get along or a breeding pair of dragons if they are of appropriate age, size, and weight.

Goodluck,

Dragons don't really need or desire company. They are perfectly happy alone. Housing them together happily involves a lot of factors working out just right, and in my opinion there are more risks involved than benefits.

I mistakenly thought the same thing: 2 would be twice as good and they would live happily ever after. They are living happily but in 2 seperate cages.

If you only want 1 cage and 2 Dragons you need to wait until you are sure about the sex and if your lucky you have a female. You can't put 2 males together ever and a male and a female together full-time doesn't usually work either for many reasons I'm sure someone will post after me... I've heard that 2 females (same size) stand the best chance of co-existing.

I'll post more if I have time later an one of the many experts haven't already covered it.

Good Luck!

The answer is really very simple: If you want to get another one for your beardies' sake (I get that impression from your post), and you want what's best for your beardie, don't do it. He doesn't need company, and he won't see another beardie as a "friend".

If you want two dragons for your own amusement, buy another enclosure and house them separately.
