jungle carpet feeding problem solved

snakemanmatt30 Jan 28, 2004 09:39 PM

I recieved a non feeding hatchling jungle and have spent the last 2 months reading about jungle feeding tricks and e-mailing people alot. I got a response from jeff at houseof serpants and his trick worked and I am greatly appreciated to all those who responded. I will be feeding her twice a week to get her some weight. Thanks Matt

Hello, I got a cup of very hot water(as hot as our water gets) and take a f/t mouse and dip it in the water and I tapped the snake on the head and body. It took me 3 or 4 times before he struck and ate it. Thaw the mouse before doing off course. I almost gave up on the snake until I got a email about this. Anyway good luck and update me. Matt

Also, I have a JCP that will no longer feed off of the tongs, no matter what. I always use the warm water trick, but it works to no avail. This guy likes to eat on his own time. So what I do is take him out of his enclosure and handle him for a bit, then before I put him back in, I put a F/T Fuzzie in his hide box, and he eats it whenever he likes. Sometimes it takes a day or two, some times he eats it right away, but reguardless, he eats.

P.S. If you're wondering why I take him out of the enclosure first, it's so that he doesn't associate me reaching into his tank, with food.

good luck!
