Spotted larvae doing well..

ginevive Jun 07, 2003 06:15 AM

My four spotted sal larvae are doing good, they're eating their blackworms now and even seem to be growing a bit. I am just relieved that they are finally eating; I raised tiger larvae before, but never these guys. How long do they take to morph in captivity?

I did some last year and it took about eight weeks. Be careful though not to miss a feeding. At about three weeks they'll start attacking each other if they're hungry. I had to feed mine daily to prevent this. I went on a three day trip and came back to a bunch of parapalegics. It was amazing how well they grew they're limbs back. I kept one and he's about 3.5in now.

Same thing you are. I just increased the length of the segments of the worms as they grew. When they morphed, I went to 1/8in crickets.
