Need to get my male in the mood......Please help!

boastud Jan 29, 2004 12:06 AM

I have tried turning off the heat for a few days, i have tried all darkness for a couple days, and i tried putting 2 female in with him. I don't have another male for him to combat with. Please any advise would be greatly appreciated.

What i di was pretty simple i cooled down my male for a month(i use a rack system so there is never any light on him)after that i put him with a female for a month no action, then he shed his skin and the same day his skin shed he started breeding. I dont know how old you male is or the weight, but mine is about 800 grams. sometimes age plays a large factor. Also i changed substrate to aspen bedding another thing that seemed to help induce breeding. Lemme know of any other questions.

try water. spray him a little with a squeeze bottle this can induce breeding (their breeding season can be rainy), also seperate them for a week. i had mine together & they didn't start breeding till i put him in another cage for a week & the second he got back he started planting his seed. also i notice that they hadn't breed in a couple weeks & i didnt care because i witnessed plenty of matings already. So i was doing the regular weekly soaking & i put them together for a soak because i had another in the other container & almost instantly they started mating. try putting them together in a rubbermaid with enough water to soak the bottom half of the snakes. now if they do mate it can take up to 24 hours before they seperate so be sure the water & room they're in has a good temp because you don't want to disturb them like i did because they pulled apart right away. for me it didnt matter because they've mated plenty but if it's important they mate then be prepared for some hours in the water tub.best of luck

should i do it at night or daytime?

slytherin Jan 29, 2004 01:34 PM

honestly it happened in the afternoon & the room was 81 degrees. so i would try day & if it doesnt work give the night a shot I dont think it would hurt either way just make sure you have a lid on it so they dont run away..lol & when you open it try to be very slow & gentle as to not disturb them...
good luck

it's got breeding info amongst other things also if that didn't work check some of the other big breeder sites, N.E.R.D., Ralph Davis, etc.
